Details of the proceedings at committee and report stage in the House of Commons, where amendments to the Bill are considered. The documents contain the text of amendments considered at that sitting and show whether they were agreed to, negatived (not agreed), not called, not moved or withdrawn.

A Petition for Additional Provision has been deposited in relation to this Bill. It seeks to allow the promoters of the Bill to extend its scope. There is a short set period when anyone specially and directly affected by the new provisions has an opportunity to oppose their inclusion in the Bill.

These are amendments which are expected to be discussed at the Third Reading stage.

The explanatory memorandum, which appears before the text of the bill, explains the bill’s purpose in detail and includes a statement as to the Bill’s compliance with the European Convention on Human Rights.

Amendments proposed (usually by the Promoters) to be made to the bill but not yet approved by the Committee on the Bill. The Committee may propose amendments of their own and may reject or alter any of the amendments in this list. See the list of amendments agreed to by the Committee for the final, agreed amendments. Lists of proposed Amendments are not generally printed as separate documents at Committee stage.

The Committees which consider this Bill may produce special reports on their conclusions. These Committees may also amend or reject the Bill they are considering without producing a report.

The Government is required to make a report on the promoters’ statement of compatibility with the European Convention on Human Rights as soon as the bill has received a first reading. If the Government wishes to make its views about the provisions of a bill known it does so by making one or more further reports which are considered by a Committee on the Bill in the House to which the report is made.

It is open to any individual, group of individuals or organisation ‘directly and specially affected’ by the provisions of a private or hybrid bill to voice their objections in a petition against that bill.
