B e it enacted by the King’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
In Schedule 7 to the Pensions Act 2004, in paragraph 25B(3) (meaning of
“terminally ill”), for “6 months” substitute “12 months”.
In Schedule 5 to the Pensions Act 2008, in paragraph 12(3) (meaning of
“terminally ill”), for “6 months” substitute “12 months”.
In Schedule 6 to the Pensions (Northern Ireland) Order 2005 (S.I. 2005/255
(N.I. 1)), in paragraph 25B(3) (meaning of “terminally ill”), for “six months”
substitute “12 months”.
In Schedule 4 to the Pensions (No. 2) Act (Northern Ireland) 2008 (c. 13 (N.I.)),
in paragraph 12(3) (meaning of “terminally ill”), for “six months” substitute
“12 months”.
In the Financial Assistance Scheme Regulations 2005 (S.I. 2005/1986)—
in regulation 2(9) (meaning of “terminally ill”), for “six months”
substitute “12 months”;
in regulation 17(3D)(b)(i) (period of life expectancy in relation to

This section and
section 3
come into force on the day on which this Act is
passed.
This Act may be cited as the Pensions (Special Rules for End of Life) Act
2024.
