After Clause 17
insert the following new Clause—
“Implementation reports on food issues
In section 4 of the Food Standards Act 1999 (annual and other reports), after subsection (1) insert—
“(1A)
The report prepared under subsection (1) must include a detailed assessment of the impact of the implementation of the provisions of the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Act 2023 in the areas of food safety, composition, labelling and other relevant areas of concern to consumers related to food.””
Member's explanatory statement
This amendment will require the Food Standards Agency and Food Standards Scotland to prepare an annual report to Parliament on the impact of the REUL Bill on consumer protection and concerns in relation to food.
