The Bill received Royal Assent and was enacted on Thursday 1 November 2018.

House of Commons Consideration of Lords Amendments: Consideration took place on Tuesday 16 October. The Commons agreed to the Lords Amendments and so the Bill now awaits Royal Assent.

House of Lords Third Reading: Formal third reading took place on Wednesday 12 September. The Bill passes back to the Commons for consideration of Lords Amendments.

House of Lords Opposed Bill Committee: The Committee sat in the week commencing 25 June, and adjourned on Thursday 28 June pending further consideration. The Committee reconvened on Thursday 12 July. The bill was reported with amendments and undertakings were given by the promoter. The right to be heard of a petitioner to be heard on his petition was disallowed.

House of Lords: The Bill received a formal first reading on 1 March 2018. The petitioning period in the House of Lords ended on Monday 12 March 2018. Seven petitions were submitted. The Bill had a formal second reading on Thursday 22 March. Two petitions were withdrawn prior to the sitting of the Select Committee (otherwise known as the Opposed Bill Committee).

House of Commons Report Stage: Consideration of the Bill as amended in committee took place on Wednesday 28 February. Third Reading was also taken and the bill passed.

House of Commons Opposed Bill Committee: On 15, 16 and 17 January an opposed bill committee sat to hear the case for the Bill by the promoters and petitioners against the Bill. The membership of the committee was Julian Knight (Chair), Tulip Siddiq, Alex Sobel and Giles Watling.

Revival: The revival motion in the House of Commons was debated and agreed to on 17 October. The House of Lords agreed to the revival of the Bill on 25 October. The Bill will shortly go through its First and Second Readings and will be referred to an Opposed Bill Committee.
